Meet Ashley Macri-Whelan

Clinical Supervisor,

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Hi, I’m Ashley! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and I received my Master’s degree from the Rutgers University School of Social Work in 2013. I bring with me over 11 years of experience as a therapist, and 16+ years in the field of social service. Since that time, I have worked primarily with children, adolescents and young adults.

My foundations are in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). I incorporate multiple other treatment modalities to support each individual’s unique needs and strengths. I am certified in mindfulness based cognitive therapy, have training experience in cognitive processing therapy (CPT) and draw from the modalities of dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), exposure response prevention (ERP) and solution focused techniques. I enjoy utilizing these modalities with a traditional talk therapy approach however love to incorporate creative outlets including art, drama and play therapy techniques.

I have extensive experience working with children, teens and young adults struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma and grief. I strive to create a calm, secure and judgement free space that allows clients to express their thoughts, feelings and experiences. My goal as a therapist is to help each individual to develop the tools to navigate the world, to see that they have all they need within themself to reach their goals no matter what challenges they may face, and to find their own peace and calm within this world.
